Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The Education Officer will support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of education programs under the Sustainable Goals Organization for Afghanistan (SGOA). This role involves field coordination, teacher training, community engagement, and ensuring education services reach returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and underserved communities. The Education Officer will work closely with local authorities, school administrators, teachers, and community stakeholders to enhance access to quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Implementation & Support:

    • Assist in the execution of education activities, including school rehabilitation, non-formal education, and teacher capacity building.

    • Ensure education programs align with national policies, donor requirements, and SGOA’s strategic objectives.

    • Monitor education interventions and provide feedback for program improvement.

  2. Teacher Training & Capacity Building:

    • Conduct training workshops for teachers on improved teaching methodologies, classroom management, and inclusive education.

    • Support the development of learning materials and resources to enhance the quality of education.

    • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to educators and facilitators.

  3. Community Engagement & Awareness:

    • Work with parents, community leaders, and school committees to promote education and encourage student enrollment.

    • Organize awareness campaigns on the importance of education, especially for girls and marginalized groups.

    • Facilitate dialogue between schools and communities to address educational barriers.

  4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

    • Collect and analyze data on program activities, student attendance, and learning outcomes.

    • Prepare reports, case studies, and success stories for internal and external stakeholders.

    • Assist in conducting assessments and evaluations to measure program impact.

  5. Coordination & Partnership Development:

    • Collaborate with local education authorities, NGOs, and UN agencies to enhance service delivery.

    • Participate in education sector meetings and advocacy efforts for improved education policies.

    • Support the Education Coordinator in networking with donors and key stakeholders.

Job Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in education project implementation, teacher training, or related fields.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Knowledge of education policies, curriculum development, and child-centered learning approaches.

    • Experience in project coordination, data collection, and reporting.

    • Familiarity with donor-funded projects and humanitarian education frameworks.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.

    • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability in challenging environments.

    • Fluency in English, Pashto, and Dari is preferred.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to field locations, including remote and conflict-affected areas.

    • Commitment to child protection, gender equity, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
