It operates in various sectors, including WASH, health, education, food security, and livelihood support, providing emergency response and relief to returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in remote and underserved areas. Job Descriptions:

he Education Coordinator will lead, design, implement, and oversee all education programs across the country for the Sustainable Goals Organization for Afghanistan (SGOA). This role requires strategic planning, coordination with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of education activities in line with organizational goals, donor requirements, and national education policies. The coordinator will work closely with local and international partners, government bodies, and community stakeholders to enhance education access and quality, particularly for returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and marginalized communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Leadership & Strategy:

    • Develop and oversee the implementation of the national education strategy in line with SGOA’s vision and donor requirements.

    • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of education projects to ensure effective and impactful delivery.

    • Identify gaps in education services and propose innovative interventions to address them.

  2. Project Implementation & Management:

    • Ensure smooth execution of education projects, including school rehabilitation, teacher training, and community learning programs.

    • Provide technical guidance to field teams to ensure quality education services in target areas.

    • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and donor expectations.

  3. Stakeholder Coordination & Partnership Development:

    • Represent SGOA in national and regional education sector meetings, UN clusters, and coordination groups.

    • Strengthen partnerships with donors, government agencies, UN organizations, and other NGOs to enhance education interventions.

    • Advocate for policies and programs that support inclusive and equitable education for vulnerable populations.

  4. Capacity Building & Staff Development:

    • Train and mentor education program staff to enhance their technical and managerial competencies.

    • Develop training modules and materials for teachers, facilitators, and community education volunteers.

    • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the education team.

  5. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

    • Establish and oversee M&E frameworks to track education program progress and impact.

    • Prepare high-quality reports, case studies, and success stories for donors and stakeholders.

    • Ensure data-driven decision-making and maintain comprehensive program documentation.

Job Requirements:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in education program management, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of education policies, curriculum development, and teacher training methodologies.

    • Experience in project planning, implementation, and M&E processes.

    • Familiarity with donor requirements, proposal writing, and reporting standards.

  • Leadership & Communication:

    • Proven experience in leading teams, fostering partnerships, and engaging with stakeholders.

    • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills, with the ability to represent SGOA at high-level forums.

    • Excellent communication skills in English, Pashto, and Dari.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Willingness to travel to field locations, including remote and conflict-affected areas.

    • Strong commitment to human rights, education equity, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
