Purpose of the Position
The Counsellor will provide psychosocial support and basic counselling services to learners, facilitate awareness sessions on wellbeing and protection, and support safeguarding and referral mechanisms within the project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Psychosocial Support and Counselling
- Provide basic individual and group counselling sessions to learners, as needed.
- Identify learners facing psychosocial distress and provide appropriate support.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counselling activities.
Awareness and Capacity Building
- Conduct awareness sessions on psychosocial wellbeing, stress management, and life skills.
- Support integration of psychosocial support into SDL classes where appropriate.
- Provide guidance to facilitators on learner wellbeing and classroom psychosocial care.
Safeguarding and Protection
- Support implementation of safeguarding and PSEA/SEA-SH policies.
- Raise awareness among learners and communities on complaint and feedback mechanisms.
- Identify protection concerns and refer cases through approved referral pathways.
- Immediately report any safeguarding incidents according to ODESC and UNESCO procedures.
Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate closely with Project Manager, M&E Officer, and Community Mobilizers.
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites.
- Prepare brief activity and case summary reports (non-identifiable).
