BiN-AR Turkish Company Branch JV Zaid Ahmadi Trading, Construction and Logistic Services Company is currently implementing the Construction of Sar-e-Pol to Faryab Road, Lot 1 (30 km).

The project includes road design and construction, earthworks, drainage structures, culverts, retaining walls, pavement layers, asphalt works, and road-safety facilities.

Job Descriptions:

The Structure Engineer will manage, supervise, inspect, and control all structural works of the project, including culverts, retaining walls, drainage channels, headwalls, wing walls, protection works, and other reinforced concrete and masonry structures.

The Structure Engineer will ensure that all structural works are completed according to the approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, quality requirements, and applicable engineering standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review structural designs, drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
  • Supervise the construction of culverts, retaining walls, drainage channels, headwalls, wing walls, bridges, and protection structures.
  • Check structure locations, alignments, dimensions, foundation levels, invert levels, slopes, and elevations.
  • Coordinate structural setting-out and level verification with the survey team.
  • Inspect foundation excavation, soil conditions, dewatering, backfilling, and foundation preparation.
  • Review and check reinforcement details, bar bending schedules, lap lengths, development lengths, spacing, cover, and anchorage.
  • Inspect steel reinforcement, formwork, embedded items, and construction joints before concrete placement.
  • Supervise PCC, RCC, stone masonry, grouted stone pitching, and structural backfilling works.
  • Ensure that concrete grade, mix design, placement, vibration, finishing, curing, and testing comply with approved requirements.
  • Check formwork stability, line, level, dimensions, cleanliness, and removal procedures.
  • Prepare and review method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, inspection requests, and technical queries.
  • Calculate and verify concrete, reinforcement, formwork, excavation, backfilling, masonry, and other structural quantities.
  • Prepare quantity calculations and supporting documents for interim payment applications.
  • Monitor daily progress and prepare structural progress reports.
  • Identify design conflicts, site problems, and construction deviations and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure that no structural work is covered or continued without the required inspection and approval.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Quality Control Engineer, surveyors, laboratory personnel, site engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Conduct joint inspections and measurements with authorized project representatives.
  • Ensure that nonconforming structural work is corrected before acceptance.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection records, concrete-pour records, reinforcement checklists, test results, quantity sheets, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements during structural works.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.

A master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Bridge Engineering, or a closely related field will be preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in civil and structural engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience with structures on road or highway projects.
  • Proven experience in culverts, retaining walls, drainage structures, bridges, reinforced concrete, and masonry works.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, masonry, drainage, culvert, retaining-wall, and bridge construction.
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, reinforcement details, technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
  • Ability to check structural calculations, dimensions, levels, reinforcement, concrete, and formwork.
  • Experience preparing and checking bar bending schedules.
  • Ability to calculate structural-work quantities accurately.
  • Knowledge of concrete materials, mix designs, testing, placement, compaction, and curing.
  • Familiarity with internationally recognized structural standards and Ministry of Public Works requirements.
  • Experience in quality-control inspections and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural engineering software.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills in Dari and/or Pashto.
  • Working proficiency in English.
  • Willingness to work full-time at the project site in Sar-e-Pol Province.
