Afghan Youth Services Organization (AYSO) is a National Afghan NGO registered in 2006 with the MoEc of Afghanistan with registration No:397.AYSO since came into being has developed, successfully implemented, and provided direct assistance services in different   sectors such as health, educational, Food Security,  Capacity building, GBV Prevention and Response, Peace, Justice Research, and Surveys human rights and awareness projects and programs with the technical and financial support of several UN Agencies such as UNDP,UNFPA, UNICEF, WFP, and WHO, AYSO has implemented projects with government ministries and departments as well as has been being implementing partner with AAH/USAID, FHI, BARC, AADA,HEWAD, and other National and International Organization.

Job Descriptions:

Scope of Work:

The CHC+ Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and general medical care at Baghran CHC+, covering both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) services. The role includes diagnosis, treatment, minor and emergency surgeries, patient follow-up, and supervision of clinic nursing staff, ensuring quality care according to MoPH, UNICEF and WHO guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Outpatient Services (OPD):

  • Conduct surgical and general consultations for men, children, and female patients when no female doctor is available.
  • Take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and establish diagnoses.
  • Prescribe treatments and provide health education in line with MoPH and WHO and UNICEF guidelines.
  • Manage emergency surgical cases at the clinic level.
  • Refer patients to vaccination or higher-level care as needed.

Inpatient Services (IPD)

  • Daily monitoring and management of inpatients, including post-surgical patients.
  • Perform surgical procedures according to BPHS and clinic guidelines.
  • Follow up on patient recovery, including dressing changes and post-operative care.
  • Supervise nursing staff in patient care and ensure proper documentation of all IPD activities.
  • Order investigations and blood transfusions when required.

Emergency Care

  • Provide immediate stabilization and management of surgical and medical emergencies.
  • Participate in night duty and on-call rotations as scheduled.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records for OPD and IPD patients, including surgical notes, progress charts, and referrals.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to AYSO provincial office.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings, trainings, and clinical updates as required.
  • Extend working hours during emergencies or program needs.
  • Follow AYSO policies and clinic protocols.
Job Requirements:
  • Medical graduate from a recognized medical faculty with specialization in General Surgery.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of HMIS and patient documentation.
  • Strong surgical skills, clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient management abilities.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
