Move Against Poverty of Women Organization (MAPWO) is a not-for-profit, non-political, and non-governmental humanitarian organization. MAPWO was established in 2016 to work alongside other national and international partners for provision of education, health, and other social services aiming to reach the most unreached and highly underserved pockets of the society and women empowerment focusing on alleviating the sufferings of the most vulnerable groups of the society in different community structures such as rural, urban, IDPs, returnees, etc. Since its establishment, MAPWO has worked hard to implement projects that ensure people’s access to quality and equitable education and health and other basic life services with focus on vulnerable group of society (women and girls).

Job Descriptions:

The incumbent shall be responsible for:

  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor pharmaceutical activities within the designated operational areas to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Support and mentor pharmacy staff in the preparation and execution of their monthly and annual operational plans, aligning activities with organizational goals.
  • Provide technical guidance to pharmacy teams at both central and provincial levels to maintain standards and improve performance.
  • Represent MAPWO in meetings and workshops with donors and relevant stakeholders, advocating for pharmacy-related programs and initiatives.
  • Assist the line manager in drafting proposals for funding and program development related to pharmaceutical activities.
  • Implement on-the-job training sessions focusing on FEFO, FIFO, MDS, RUD, and other inventory management and pharmaceutical handling systems for subordinate staff.
  • Conduct regular supervisory visits to provincial offices, healthcare facilities, and pharmacy stock points to assess operations, stock levels, and compliance.
  • Analyze pharmacy requisition data and consumption reports to optimize inventory management and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping within the pharmacy department for all projects at the central level, and verify consistency and compliance of record systems at provincial levels.
  • Perform at least one supervisory visit per month to health facilities to oversee pharmaceutical services and address challenges.
  • Plan and oversee the implementation of pharmaceutical activities, in coordination with relevant departments, to meet organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team to verify the accuracy of medicine supplies and medical equipment deliveries, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.
  • Organize training sessions for pharmacists at provincial and facility levels to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Identify, document, and report any issues or barriers impacting the effective delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Ensure availability of first aid kits in the office and emergency medical kits in vehicles operating in the field.
  • Oversee medicine inventory to ensure supplies are arranged and managed according to expiry dates, reducing waste and ensuring safety.
  • Maintain safe, hygienic, and appropriate storage conditions for medicines and medical equipment at central and provincial warehouses.
  • Participate in coordinating meetings related to pharmaceutical issues, especially with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), to stay aligned with national policies.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly reports on pharmacy activities, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations, and submit these to the line manager.

EDUCATION:                       Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
WORK EXPERIENCE:        5 years of professional experience. Experience in quality assurance activities in pharmaceutical procurements would be an added advantage. 

NOTE: Key personnel should be familiar with the health system and standards for the provision of primary and secondary health care services (BPHS and EPHS) in Afghanistan
