About (WVO) Women's Voice Organization:

Women’s Voice Organization (WVO) is a non- governmental, non-partisan, non-political, non- profit, impartial, voluntary organization operating in Afghanistan and its environs. The Women’s Voice Organization (WVO) was established in June 2019 and is registered as a Non- Governmental Organization whose aims are to Alleviate Poverty, Promote Good Governance, peaceful and secure societies and Access to Public Education.

The formation of WVO was informed by the need to improve the risk awareness, peace building conflict resolution and prevention of violent extremist and other challenges of socio-economic conditions of the disadvantaged communities members with particular emphasis on youth and villages residents to alleviate the suffering which was on its peak at that time as a result of frequent insecurity shocks and natural disasters and lack of awareness. The NGO also sought to accelerate development of the rural urban poor areas, reduce poverty, morbidity and mortality rates of women and children

Job Descriptions:

The GBV Officer is primarily responsible for the quality implementation of gender-based violence prevention and response activities at the community and provincial levels. The officer plays a key role in awareness-raising, coordination, case support, and advocacy to ensure that GBV survivors receive appropriate care and those communities are empowered to prevent GBV through targeted engagement and education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:
    Conduct GBV prevention, mitigation, and advocacy sessions with the active participation of community members, local authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders involved in GBV response.
  • Awareness & Education:
    Organize and lead gender awareness sessions at the community level, promoting understanding of women’s rights, gender equality, and GBV prevention.
  • Psycho-social Support:
    Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) and basic psycho-social support to GBV survivors and refer complex cases to appropriate services.
  • SOP Implementation:
    Support the implementation of WVO’s GBV Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and assist in adapting these to the local context when necessary.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation:
    Ensure daily monitoring of GBV project activities and contribute to regular reporting and evaluation processes, ensuring adherence to organizational quality standards and tools.
  • Referral Pathways:
    Assist in mapping available referral pathways and support the development of referral systems for GBV survivors. Ensure all survivors have access to safe and confidential services.
  • Service Accessibility Assessment:
    Assess the awareness and usage of available services among GBV survivors and identify barriers to access.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of activities, achievements, challenges, and case records in line with WVO’s data protection policies and reporting requirements.
  • Behavior Change Communication:
    Contribute to the design and implementation of behavior change communication (BCC) campaigns by delivering targeted awareness and education interventions on GBV prevention and response.
  • Gap Identification:
    Identify and report any gaps in tools, procedures, or staff capacity that may hinder the provision of timely and effective GBV services.
  • Coordination:
    Coordinate with relevant stakeholders at the provincial and community level, including local authorities, women's groups, and partner organizations, to strengthen the GBV response network.

Additional Tasks:
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Job Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of gender and GBV issues within the Afghan context.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills, especially with marginalized populations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
