About the project: Overall Objective of the project is to enhance community infrastructure vital for improving livelihoods and local economic development, and communities have improved access to essential services through better health, education, agriculture, and energy infrastructure.
Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Engineer (QA) will be responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure works under the project meet required technical, safety, environmental, and donor quality standards. The role focuses on quality control of construction and rehabilitation works, including water systems, roads, WASH facilities, protection walls, canals, and health facility improvements. The QA will ensure full compliance with UNDP, ActionAid, and national engineering standards.
Job Responsibilities :
Tasks:
- Conduct regular site inspections for all construction and rehabilitation works.
- Ensure works comply with approved technical designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Verify the quality of construction materials (cement, sand, gravel, steel, aggregates, pipes, etc.).
- Monitor workmanship and adherence to engineering standards.
- Maintain quality inspection reports, checklists, and photographic documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UNDP, national building codes, and ActionAid policies.
- Support development and implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) plans.
- Supervise material testing (concrete strength tests, compaction tests, water flow tests, etc.).
- Verify quantities and quality before certifications and payments.
- Review contractors’ work plans and method statements.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguard requirements.
- Monitor implementation of safety measures and use of PPE at sites.
- Identify and report any environmental or safety risks.
- Work closely with Civil Engineers, contractors, and community committees.
- Support orientation of community workers on construction quality and safety.
- Participate in progress meetings and technical reviews.
- Prepare weekly and monthly quality progress reports.
Provide timely feedback to management on risks, delays, and corrective actions.
