Job Descriptions:
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential social risks, adverse impacts, and opportunities related to project activities.
  • Develop and implement Social Management Plans (SMPs) to address identified risks and ensure community-friendly project delivery.
  • Establish and manage Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM) in all project sites, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Ensure awareness on social safeguards and Grievance Redress Mechanisms among project staff, community members, and contractors.
  • Ensure effective communication and consultation channels with affected communities, local leaders, and government authorities to understand their concerns and incorporate their input.
  • Monitor compliance with social safeguards, organisational policies, and donor requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a monitoring and evaluation system to assess the effectiveness of social safeguard interventions.
  • Monitor the integration of gender equality, social inclusion, and conflict mitigation in all project phases, ensuring women, marginalized, and vulnerable groups are meaningfully engaged and benefit equitably.
  • Prepare a comprehensive visit plan (in coordination with line management) to visit provincial and district offices for monitoring.
  • Regularly report findings, progress, risks, and recommendations to the project management team.
  • Promote a socially responsible culture within the project team and among stakeholders.
  • Any other duties as and when assigned by the line manager, Managing Director and/or Directorate.
Job Requirements:

Education & Professional Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in social science l, environmental science, civil engineering, or another relevant area or equivalent professional experience

Work Experience

At least 2 years of relevant experience in Community Driven Development projects. Familiar with community-based social safeguarding.

  • Familiar with community-based social safeguarding
  • Strong knowledge of social safeguards, including community engagement, inclusion, and protection of vulnerable groups
  • Excellent skills in monitoring and evaluation, including data collection and analysis, to ensure accurate reporting and documentation in line with donor requirements.
  • Fluency in written English and demonstrated ability to write and lay out high-quality documents,
  • Knowledge of Dari and Pashtu is compulsory.
  • High-level proficiency in office applications, including spread sheets, word processing, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills able to distil key ideas with clarity and precision.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to work with significant levels of autonomy, manage personal priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Resilience to travel and work in isolated and possibly insecure locations.
  • Flexible and dynamic with the ability to deal with difficult, often ambiguous and challenging situations and creatively solve problems.
  • Clear and firm commitment to the rights, equality, role and empowerment of women, minorities and persons with disabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of community development and social mobilisation.

  • Commitment to support/develop the capacity of the national staff and of rural communities.
