About World Vision International:

World Vision International (WVI) began emergency relief operations in Afghanistan in 2001 by addressing the urgent needs of children and families affected by natural disasters and decades of conflict. More than a decade later, World Vision Afghanistan’s (WVA) programs have expanded to development sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, and education, empowering women to engage in civil and social change through interfaith partnership.

WVA targets the most vulnerable in its interventions; including children, women, Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), and returnee refugees, as well as the most impoverished and marginalized families. These priorities have been chosen to contribute to our Goal of: “Improved survival and well-being of Afghan girls and boys, building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.” 

Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

 

Job Descriptions:
  • This is a full-time, grant-funded Community Promoter position based in City of Herat province. Introduce the program to the communities, community/health shuras. CNWs orient the communities on the project scope of work and develop nutrition education session schedule and follow up SAM and MAM cases as well as the malnourished PLWs.
Job Requirements:

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist in the client’s triage.
  • Assist in IPC of the HFs environment.
  • Introduce the program to the communities, community/health shuras. CNWs orient the communities on the project scope of work.
  • Develop nutrition education session schedule.
  • Follow up SAM and MAM cases as well as the malnourished PLWs.
  • In consultation with community/health shuras identify the project beneficiaries and orient them to be able to detect malnourished cases and referral.
  • Conduct daily nutrition / health education session based on the identified health and nutrition issues
  • Helping to raise public awareness on issues relevant to nutrition
  • Take part in the project data collection process and preparing reports from community activities
  • Field/ administrative duties or tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Establish solid relations with community leaders, shura member for gathering security information and be aware of challenges and changes in security and update the team of potential threats.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

Required Professional Experience

At least two years working in BPHS/EPHS or equivalent clinics in community mobilization programs.

Required Education,training, license,registration, and certification

  1. Graduated from midwifery, nursing or equivalent also preferred.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Ability to plan and execute training programs at community level.
  • Good time management and scheduling skills.
  • Honesty and personal integrity.
  • Skills in carrying out monitoring and supervision of programs at the community level.
  • Communication skills and knowledge of local communities.
  • Ability on the triage methods
  • Language’s empowerment (Dari – Pashto)
  • Ability to work in challenging environments and with diverse populations

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

 Ability to travel within the work environment of Herat province.

Position’s physical requirements

Strong, Young, Passionate and have flexibility to work long hours.
