Master Trainers
Terms of Reference (ToR) for Two Master Trainers (1 Female and 1 Male) based in Herat Province, for AEHDA’s Health, WASH, and Protection project.
Position Title: Master Trainer (1 Male & 1 Female)
Project Title: Health, WASH, and Protection Interventions
Duty Station: Herat Province (with field travel to target districts)
Duration: 12 months (extendable based on performance and funding)
Probation Period: 3 months
Reporting to: Provincial Coordinator / Training & Capacity Building Officer
1. Background
AEHDA is implementing a comprehensive project focused on improving the capacity of frontline health and protection personnel in Herat province. Master Trainers are central to building sustainable local capacity through delivering high-quality trainings in health, hygiene, psychosocial support, GBV, and related topics.
2. Purpose of the Position
The Master Trainers will lead and facilitate training and refresher sessions for health workers, community-based staff, midwives, nurses, and youth leaders. They will ensure that all trainings are gender-sensitive, participatory, and aligned with MoPH and donor guidelines.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver capacity-building sessions on Health, WASH, MHPSS, GBV, and protection topics.
- Facilitate refresher trainings for BPHS/EPHS staff, community health workers (CHWs), midwives, and nurses.
- Adapt training materials and curricula to local context, literacy levels, and gender sensitivity.
- Organize and lead training-of-trainers (ToT) events.
- Maintain records of training attendance, feedback, and performance assessments.
- Work closely with the M&E and HR teams to follow up on training impact and staff performance.
- Promote gender equity and safe learning environments in all trainings.
- Contribute to the development of IEC and BCC materials where needed.
- Ensure training content meets national standards and reflects best practices.
- Participate in post-training evaluations and submit narrative reports.
6. Reporting Line
Master Trainers will report to the Provincial Coordinator and work closely with the Capacity Building Officer, M&E team, and technical advisors.
7. PSEA Compliance
The trainers must abide by AEHDA’s Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Child Protection Policies, ensuring all training environments are respectful, safe, and inclusive.
8. Working Conditions
- Based in Herat with frequent travel to field locations in Adraskan, Gulran, and Koshk-e-Robath Sangi districts.
- 5 working days per week with flexibility for training schedules.
9. Interdiction Clause
Any misuse of role, breach of confidentiality, or misconduct—especially related to PSEA, safeguarding, or fraud—will result in disciplinary action, including contract termination.
