About Afghan Health and Development Services(AHDS):

Afghan Health and Development Services (AHDS) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization founded by Afghans on April 7th, 1990.  AHDS is an active member of the Afghan NGOs Coordination Bureau (ANCB), the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief (ACBAR), and the Alliance of Health Organizations (AHO). AHDS is one of the first signatories of the Codes of Conduct for NGOs engaged in humanitarian action, reconstruction, and development in Afghanistan.

The main office: AHDS is registered as a national NGO with the Ministry of Economy – Afghanistan. The registration number (5) was renewed on 25 Aug 2005 (old number 219 on 18 Nov 1999). Its TIN is 100 005 5 010.

Job Descriptions:

Patient Care:

    1. Conduct thorough physical examinations and medical histories for pediatric patients.
    2. Diagnose and treat a wide variety of pediatric conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, congenital disorders, infectious diseases, and developmental concerns.
    3. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, considering both clinical best practices and the unique needs of pediatric patients.
    4. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood work, imaging, and developmental screenings.
    5. Provide vaccinations and preventive care, including well-child visits and health promotion guidance.
    6. Administer medical treatments, including medication, injections, and minor procedures, as needed.
    7. Educate patients' families on disease prevention, treatment options, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    8. Collaboration and Teamwork:
    9. Work closely with other medical professionals, including pediatric nurses, pediatric subspecialists, surgeons, and allied health staff, to deliver comprehensive care.
    10. Provide consultations to other departments and healthcare providers regarding pediatric patients and complex cases.
    11. Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, and community health resources to ensure continuity of care for patients.
    12. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, discussing cases, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
    13. Education and Mentorship:
    14. Supervise and provide education to pediatric residents, medical students, interns, and nursing staff.
    15. Offer guidance in clinical practice, child health assessments, and best treatment protocols for pediatric care.
    16. Participate in formal teaching sessions, workshops, and conferences to improve pediatric knowledge among healthcare providers.
    17. Promote a culture of continuous learning by staying updated on the latest developments in pediatric medicine.
    18. Clinical Leadership and Quality Improvement:

    19. Contribute to the development and review of clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards for pediatric care.
    20. Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
    21. Regularly audit pediatric care practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
    22. Research and Clinical Development:

    23. Participate in or lead pediatric research projects, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge and clinical practices.
    24. Stay informed on the latest research, clinical trials, and emerging treatments in pediatrics.
    25. Present research findings at medical conferences or publish in peer-reviewed journals.
    26. Administrative Duties:

    27. Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
    28. Ensure that all patient interactions, including diagnoses, treatment plans, and consultations, are thoroughly documented.
    29. Participate in hospital meetings, departmental reviews, and administrative responsibilities as required by the hospital.
    30. Community Outreach and Public Health:

      1. Participate in community health programs and initiatives focused on child health, disease prevention, and early intervention.
Job Requirements:
  • Education & Training:

    • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
    • Completion of a residency in pediatrics and additional training in pediatric subspecialties (if applicable).
    • Board certification in Pediatrics, or board eligibility.
  • Licensure:

    • Valid medical license to practice in [Region/Province].
    • In good standing with the local medical regulatory body.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of [5] years of clinical experience as a pediatrician, including experience in both general pediatrics and specific pediatric subspecialties (e.g., pediatric cardiology, pediatric endocrinology, etc.).
    • Previous experience working in a hospital or community health setting is preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of pediatric conditions, treatments, and medical procedures.
    • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in pediatrics.
    • Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with children and families.
    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other hospital software.
    • Strong teamwork, leadership, and collaboration skills.
    • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to assist in lifting or moving pediatric patients as needed.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations promptly and manage high-pressure environments.
  • Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with the possibility of shift work, weekends, or on-call duties, depending on the hospital’s needs.
  • Work may involve rotating shifts, evening or weekend hours, and occasional holiday shifts.
  • Exposure to potentially infectious materials and health risks common in healthcare settings.
