OHW is operating since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN and most of the national and international Clusters operates based in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summery & Purpose:
Ensuring sufficiency of vaccines and others vaccine related supplies. Requesting the EPI related materials from Manager /EPI or district health supervisor on the right time
Correct and on time record and report of EPI related activities to all concerns according to PHS requirements. Planning and organizing PHS activities in such a way to achieve the targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for provision of vaccine (routine vaccination) and COVID19 vaccine to eligible individuals from catchment areas of the HF and reporting on the monthly performance.
  2. Ensure timely follow up visits of the clients and patients for the next doses of vaccine and minimize drop outs
  3. Provide health education of to the patients and clients related to the role of vaccine in communicable disease and on frequency and routine side effects of the vaccines.
  4. Correctly fill cold boxes and vaccines carriers with ice packs: make sure that ice packs are frozen; clean and dry frost on ice pack surfaces; include indicator inside of cold box or vaccine carriers; always keep vaccines within cold box or vaccine carriers with ice packs.
  5. Keep all vaccines at the correct cold temperature to avoid heat, sunlight or freezing.
  6. While making vaccinations always keep vaccine on ice packs.
  7. Use only disposal needles and syringes.
  8. Correctly use diluents for vaccines.
  9. Give children correct vaccinations following the agreed schedule.
  10. Give vaccines the correct number of times and at the correct age: vaccinate at the right age; vaccinate with the right number of doses; vaccinate at the right time between doses.
  11. Fix the date of the next vaccination and inform parents of the children.     
  12. Follow waste disposal procedures: collect and put all sharp objects in special safety box and dispose using an incinerator according to waste disposal rules.
  13. Prepare weekly statistical reports using standard forms (e.g. MOPH registration forms and vaccination cards).
  14. Provide correct registration and timely report to supervisor when problems arise concerning his part of the work in the office.
  15. Provide health education to parents about the importance of vaccination, including all side effects, and advise parents what is necessary to do in case if a child or women has side effects to provide counselling on drug related issue.
  16. Responsible of immunization for the women and children.
  17. Responsible to provide performance reports to line manager.
  18. Responsible to assist line manager in the preparation of vaccination data base and data collection tools.

Accomplish other tasks defined by and agreed with the Medical Doctor, Pharmacist, Field Team Supervisor

Job Requirements:

 

  • Must hold three months certificate of an initial training program of EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) and should be attach its scanned copy along with CV.   
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience at the clinics/ hospitals or health organization
    Experience in the use of computers and office software packages and handling of the medical report record systems.
  • Basic knowledge of English and fluent in both national language of Afghanistan.
  • Have good communication and relationship skill.

Much be familiar with Pashto language and capable to speak fluently
