The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

 

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Descriptions:

Responsibilities:

  • Performing of radiological procedures with all radiation safety measurements for self, patient and attendant.
  • Daily maintenance of X-Ray machine with logging of record, like check for collimator function, X-Ray tube position setting .e.t.c.
  • Brief to patient and attendant about procedure. Preparing patient for radiological procedures.
  • Ensure that all equipment’s are in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Log completed radiological procedures. Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain x-ray room and dark room cleanliness. Stock necessary radiological supplies.
  • Request, retrieve and track files to and from other departments.
  • Report immediately any equipment malfunctions to Supervisor.
  • Preparation of film developing chemicals with monitoring of required temperature of tank and frequency of preparation.
  • Manual developing of radiological films by following manufacturer’s instruction with proper disposal of radioactive waste.
  • Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by Physician. Maintain a repeat rate of two percent or less.
  • Evaluate radiographs for quality and share technical issues with supervisor before dispatch to reporting counter.
  • Work closely with the Physician to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
  • Labelling and Storage of radiographs as part of patient medical record data.
  • Assist in teaching /training of junior staff, students and trainees according to guidelines provided as and when required.
  • Ensure through visual inspection that the junior staff carries out their job as per policy and procedure manual on daily basis to bring about quality work.
  • Participate in internal and external quality control program.
  • Keep in confidential all patient reports.
  • Willing to work in shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Carrying out any other departmental duty assigned by Supervisor diagnostic services

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Graduated from the instituter of Health Sciences- Radiology department.

 

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of Working experience in radiology at any hospital or diagnostic center.

 

 

Skill:                                              

  • Ability to perform independently all radiographic procedures (routine and special) with radiation safety.

                                          

Language:                                 

  • Fluency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding of English and Local   Language(s).
