About SIL(Samar):

SIL (Samar) is a registered NGO in Afghanistan. It has been registered since 2009 (1388), with the Ministry of Economy (Registration #339)and has a protocol with the Ministry of Education regarding our work in Language Development with the Language Communities of Afghanistan. We presently have work in 6 language communities in the country. We work in mother-tongue education, language research, development of orthographies, minority language preservation and promotion, capacity building and understanding between ethnic groups. We also cooperate with the Ministry of Information and Culture and with the National Academy of Sciences.

Samar desires to see all language communities in Afghanistan have a growing confidence in their cultural and linguistic identities and embrace the use of their languages to meet their holistic needs.

  

Job Descriptions:
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, including the code of conduct
  • Collect and verify reports from various projects and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, timelineness, and relevance.
  • Deliver reports to the appropriate government Ministry office for each reporting period.
  • Answer any questions government staff may have, and convey questions or suggestions to the Samar Director and/or project staff.
  • Assist Project Manages to prepare monthly, quarterly and/or semi-annual Program/project reports.
  • Maintain a secure, organized digital and physical archive of reports and supporting documents.
  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting templates to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Coordinate reporting issues regularly to support and provide feedback to project managers and Samar Administration.
  • Edit projects reports as needed.
  • Train project managers and other staff as needed on new tools to enhance their reporting system.
  • Attend Coordination meetings as needed.
  • Collecting information and preparing success stories of the projects.

Job Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Literature, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or other relevant disciplines from a reputable university. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in humanitarian or educational settings.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
    • Proficiency in typing & common computer applications.
    • Ability to translate from English to Dari and Pashto and vice versa.

 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Dari, and ability to easily read/write formal Dari.
  • Fluency in Pashto is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in written English.
  • Knowledge of a minority language of Afghanistan is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • The Reporting Coordinator will be based in Kabul and may require occasional travel to project sites.
