Position Title: Finance Officer
1. Position Summary
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, management, and oversight of all financial operations to ensure accurate, timely, transparent, and compliant financial management of organizational resources. The position ensures that all financial processes adhere to organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable financial regulations and standards.
2. Key Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and maintain financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in coordination with relevant departments.
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including payments, receipts, bank reconciliations, and cash management.
Process financial transactions and ensure proper documentation and authorization in line with internal controls.
Prepare and review financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
Support the preparation of donor financial reports in compliance with specific reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounting systems.
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis and recommendations to management.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
Liaise with banks, auditors, suppliers, and other financial stakeholders as required.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
Track expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding allocations.
Assist in payroll processing and related statutory deductions where applicable.
Identify and report financial risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for improved efficiency.
Support capacity building of staff on financial procedures and compliance requirements.
Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of financial information at all times.
3. Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience with budgeting, donor reporting, and financial compliance requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage).
