Job Descriptions:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager Accounting & Taxation to oversee taxation, accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance activities for our Afghanistan operations. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Afghanistan tax regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and providing financial insights to management. The ideal candidate should possess strong taxation and accounting knowledge, with experience in handling statutory requirements, financial reporting, and tax compliance within a dynamic business environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Partly Qualified ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Accounting, and Taxation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing taxation matters.
  • Experience working in Afghanistan is highly preferred.
  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, NGO, donor-funded projects, or multinational organizations will be an advantage.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of Afghanistan Tax Laws and Regulations.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP and accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Job Requirements:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead and manage all tax-related matters for Afghanistan operations.
  • Ensure timely preparation, review, and submission of all statutory tax filings in accordance with Afghanistan tax regulations.
  • Manage Corporate Income Tax, Business Receipts Tax (BRT), Withholding Tax, Payroll Taxes, and other applicable taxes.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, government agencies, and external tax consultants regarding tax matters.
  • Handle tax assessments, audits, notices, inquiries, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain complete tax records and supporting documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend tax optimization strategies while ensuring full compliance.
  • Prepare monthly tax compliance reports for management review.

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Review journal entries, general ledger transactions, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
  • Ensure all accounting activities comply with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in implementing and improving financial controls and accounting procedures.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Banking & Treasury Management

  • Coordinate banking activities and cash management functions.
  • Monitor fund transfers and cash requirements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions and banking partners.

Business Support

  • Provide financial guidance and support to operational departments.
  • Assist management with financial feasibility studies and special projects.
  • Support procurement, contracts, and commercial reviews from a financial and tax perspective.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance financial efficiency.
