Job Summary
The ECCD Trainer (Officer Level) will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Early Childhood Care and Development programs implemented by SGOA. The position focuses on improving equitable access to quality early learning, care, and developmental services for young children, particularly those from vulnerable populations including returnees, internally displaced persons, and underserved communities.
The ECCD Trainer (Officer Level) will work closely with caregivers, facilitators, community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations to ensure holistic child development through integrated early learning, health, nutrition, protection, and psychosocial support interventions. The position is based in Kabul, with regular field travel required.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Field Support
Support the implementation of ECCD interventions including early learning centers, child friendly spaces, and parenting education sessions.
Assist in planning and coordinating daily ECCD activities to ensure safe, inclusive, and child centered learning environments.
Conduct routine and structured visits to ECCD classes and learning spaces to observe teaching practices, child engagement, and learning conditions.
Provide on-site guidance and feedback to facilitators during classroom visits to improve the quality of early learning delivery.
Ensure ECCD activities are aligned with national standards, donor requirements, and SGOA strategic objectives.
Monitor field level implementation and contribute to continuous program improvement.
Facilitator Training and Capacity Building
Conduct initial and refresher training sessions for ECCD facilitators, caregivers, and community volunteers on early childhood development principles.
Support facilitators in applying age appropriate, play based, and child centered teaching methodologies.
Assist in the development, adaptation, and effective use of ECCD learning materials and educational kits.
Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and technical support to ECCD staff and facilitators based on classroom observations and performance assessments.
Community Engagement and Parenting Awareness
Engage parents, caregivers, and community leaders to promote awareness of the importance of early childhood care and development.
Organize and facilitate parenting education sessions focusing on early learning, child health, nutrition, protection, and psychosocial wellbeing.
Promote community ownership and active participation in ECCD activities.
Support community based mechanisms that strengthen child protection and positive early childhood development outcomes.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
Collect, verify, and analyze data related to ECCD activities, attendance, and child development indicators.
Maintain accurate records, attendance registers, and program documentation.
Prepare regular progress reports, success stories, and case studies for internal review and donor reporting.
Support baseline assessments, periodic evaluations, and lessons learned exercises to assess program impact and effectiveness.
Coordination and Partnership Development
Coordinate with local authorities, community structures, NGOs, and SCI and their other IPs involved in ECCD, education, and child protection.
Participate in ECCD and education sector coordination meetings at local and regional levels.
Support the ECCD Supervisor or Coordinator in strengthening partnerships and ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders.
Ensure alignment and integration of ECCD interventions with other SGOA programs where relevant.
