PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Teacher Trainer is responsible for strengthening teaching quality and instructional practices in Temporary Learning Spaces (TLSs) by providing regular classroom-based coaching, mentoring, and training to teachers. The role focuses on improving learner-centered teaching methods, lesson planning, classroom management, and student learning outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Primary Responsibilities (Teaching Quality Improvement)
- Provide regular in-classroom coaching and mentoring to each assigned teacher at least twice per month.
- Observe classroom teaching in TLSs and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching methods and student engagement.
- Support teachers in applying learner-centered, inclusive, and gender-responsive teaching approaches.
- Support teachers in developing and using daily and weekly lesson plans aligned with approved curricula.
- Identify teaching gaps and learning challenges and address them through on-the-job training and follow-up support.
- Develop, adapt, and use training aids and teaching support materials relevant to TLS contexts.
2. Technical Support and Capacity Building
- Use approved project training packages to strengthen teachers’:
- Subject knowledge
- Teaching methodologies
- Classroom management skills
- Child-friendly and inclusive education practices
- Spend approximately 80% of working time in the field supporting teachers in TLSs.
- Support teachers in assessing student learning progress and using simple classroom-based assessment tools.
- Distribute textbooks, teaching aids, and learning materials and ensure their proper use in classrooms.
- Promote positive discipline and safe learning environments in all TLSs.
3. Coordination and Community Engagement
- Work closely with Community Mobilizers and community members to ensure strong community support for TLS activities.
- Support community awareness activities, particularly related to girls’ education and regular student attendance.
- Coordinate with School Shuras / Community Education Committees to strengthen ownership and sustainability of TLSs.
- Maintain coordination with MoE hub schools, district, and provincial education authorities as required.
- Support the Project Officer in preparing training-related inputs for reports.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Prepare and implement monthly, weekly, and daily supervision and classroom observation plans.
- Maintain complete records of:
- Teacher supervision and coaching visits
- Classroom observation checklists
- Training attendance and evaluation forms
- Conduct training evaluations and use findings to improve future support.
- Identify TLS material and learning needs during field visits and report them for timely action.
- Monitor TLS learning environments to ensure they are safe, child-friendly, and conducive to learning.
- Submit accurate and timely supervision, training, and monitoring reports to the Project Officer.
5. Safeguarding and Policy Compliance
- Ensure child safeguarding, PSEA, and “Do No Harm” principles are fully applied in all TLS activities.
- Promote safe, respectful, and inclusive behavior among teachers and students.
- Comply with all COAR policies, donor requirements, and education standards.
6. Other Duties
- Perform any other education-related duties assigned by the Line Manager.
