About Concern Worldwide- Afghanistan:

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Currently, Concern has been working in Afghanistan since 1998, when it responded to an earthquake disaster in Takhar province. Currently Concern has been working in Takhar and Badakhshan provinces undertaking both emergency response and long-term developmental work in the areas of livelihood security, primary education and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. 

Job Descriptions:

Main duty and Responsibilities:

Implementation Supervision and Technical Support:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise static and outreach immunization activities.
  • Prepare and implement weekly and monthly immunization schedules in line with national EPI guidelines.
  • Conduct supportive supervision and on-the-job coaching for vaccinators, CHWs, and midwives.
  • Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) standards are followed during all vaccination sessions.
  • Monitor cold chain equipment and ensure twice-daily temperature checks and documentation.
  • Manage vaccine forecasting, stock management, and reporting to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Collect, verify, and compile EPI data and submit accurate reports on time.
  • Track immunization coverage, dropout rates and timely report the challenges which may affect the implementation.
  • Organize community awareness and mobilization campaigns to increase immunization coverage.
  • Support disease surveillance and emergency vaccination campaigns when required.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of EPI supplies, equipment, and cold chain systems.
  • Integrate immunization services with RMNCH, nutrition, and health education activities.

Coordination:

  • Coordinate closely with BPHS implementers, MoPH EPI focal points, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Report regularly to the Technical Advisor – Health & Nutrition on project issues as well as sharing progression reports.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
  • Provide full support in relation to emergencies when occurring in any area where Concern may respond.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and Emergency:

  • The concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
  • To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams.
Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Medical Degree from a recognized university
  • Specialized training in EPI, cold chain management, or public health preferred for an MD and a must for other disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in immunization or public health programming.
  • Experience in cold chain, vaccine logistics, and data reporting.
  • Familiarity with BPHS/EPHS structure and EPI national guidelines. Previous experience in Takhar and Badakhshan province is an advantage.
  • Experience working with NGO in development and/or humanitarian responses in the areas of health.

Communication:

  • Effective communication skills and ability to lead big to medium teams, also remotely (if necessary).
  • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills with government and partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in Dari; English proficiency required.
