Job Summary

The GBV Counselor will be responsible for providing specialized mental health and psychosocial support services to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), ensuring confidentiality, safety, and appropriate referrals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions for GBV survivors.
  • Conduct structured mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) sessions through community-based safe spaces.
  • Identify and refer survivors requiring specialized medical, legal, or protection services.
  • Ensure the establishment of community-based complaints mechanisms for safe reporting of SEA (Sexual Exploitation and Abuse).
  • Train and mentor facilitators on GBV prevention, response, and psychosocial support.
  • Support awareness-raising activities on GBV prevention, mitigation, and response.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation.
Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in GBV case management or counseling.
  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), caring for child survivors, or other GBV-focused modules.
  • Proficient in local languages and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Deliverables

  • Monthly counseling reports.
  • Documentation of cases referred and outcomes.
  • Record of awareness sessions and their impact.
