Kardan University, a leading institution of higher education in Afghanistan, is currently in search of an experienced and motivated individual to join our esteemed team of academicians and researchers as the Dean of Social Sciences Faculty. This position holds a key role in shaping the future of the Faculty and contributing to the overall advancement of the university.
As the Dean of the Faculty, you will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, academic guidance, and administrative oversight to ensure the highest standard of excellence in teaching, research, and professional development. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop long range and strategic plans and directions for each faculty which supports the academic mission of the faculty and the University.
- Ensure that all University and Faculty policies are followed within the Departments and the members of the Departments are aware of those policies.
- Represent faculty interests at other levels, including government, research institutes, funding organizations, and other university departments.
- Work towards the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the curriculum.
- Oversee the teaching methodologies and the internal and external assessment methods of the faculty members and ensure that transparency, accuracy, and credibility in student evaluations remain the norm.
- Provide leadership to incorporate high-impact research into teaching and learning experiences and environments within the Faculty.
- Participate in the recruitment process and orientation of new faculty members.
- Oversee the career progress of the faculty members, fostering and encouraging their teaching and research programs.
- Work toward the faculty’s professional development, arrange faculty training programs and workshops in coordination with Faculty Development Center.
- Work in close collaboration with the academic administrator of the departments to ensure that overall departmental operations are performed in a streamlined fashion and all educational offerings are carefully planned and effectively taught.
- Proactively plan for each semester, ensure the availability of all required resources including the faculty members, classroom, and other logistics.
- Help the academic administrator to ensure an efficient process of the new registration including; preparation of the entry test paper, interview process, orientation of the new inductions and preparing the class schedules.
- Help the academic administrator to promptly plan class schedules, exams schedules, and course offerings.
- Resolve departmental issues and divergence and ensure to maintain a conflict-free working environment for all faculty members and staff.
- Act as a point of contact between the Vice Chancellor Academics and the faculties and report all departmental activities, progresses and issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with the department members to ensure effective communication and interaction with Academic Administrator and faculty members.
- Ensure that all Academic Administrators participate and coordinate with communication and Admission Office in sharing department’s success stories.
