The Head of School/Principal will serve as the founding academic and administrative leader of Rupani Academy, Afghanistan. This role includes establishing the school from its inception, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, building a positive school culture, maintaining compliance with educational regulations, and preparing for future expansion up to Grade 10.
The Head of School/Principal will work closely with the Rupani Academies Program leadership and report directly to the CEO of Rupani Foundation Afghanistan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to accessible, high-quality education.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Leadership & School Establishment
- Lead the overall establishment and operationalization of the school (KG–Grade 3).
- Develop and implement the school’s vision, mission, and strategic plan.
- Oversee infrastructure readiness, classroom setup, learning environment standards, and safety compliance.
- Guide preparation for future expansion to Grade 10, including planning, staffing, and meeting government requirements.
B. Academic Management
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning aligned with Rupani Academies standards.
- Oversee development and implementation of curriculum, assessment frameworks, and instructional practices.
- Establish systems for lesson planning, teacher observations, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
- Promote child-centered, activity-based, inclusive pedagogy appropriate for early years and primary grades.
C. Staff Recruitment & Capacity Development
- Recruit, train, and supervise teachers and support staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify training needs.
- Coordinate capacity-building initiatives and foster a collaborative professional culture focused on continuous improvement.
D. Student Admissions & School Culture
- Oversee transparent and equitable student admissions processes.
- Establish a safe, nurturing, and disciplined school environment.
- Build constructive relationships with parents and the wider community through structured communication and engagement.
E. Administration & Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations, including timetabling, attendance, facilities, and resource allocation.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Oversee school-level financial planning, including budgeting and expenditure tracking.
F. Compliance & External Relations
- Ensure full compliance with Afghan government education regulations and standards.
- Liaise with local education authorities for approvals, inspections, and required reporting.
- Represent the school in community, stakeholder, and institutional engagements.
G. Safeguarding, Child Protection & Well-being
- Implement and uphold safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Ensure safety protocols, emergency procedures, and psychosocial support systems are established and functioning.
- Promote holistic student well-being and positive school climate.
