Job Summary:
The CBHC Officer supports the effective implementation of Community-Based Health Care (CBHC) activities in Nangarhar Province and reports directly to the PHC/SHC Manager. The role focuses on supervising CHSs and CHWs, strengthening health shuras, conducting regular field supervision, facilitating trainings, supporting action plan development, and ensuring accurate reporting of community health services. The officer helps maintain strong community linkages, monitors progress of project activities, supports referral systems between health posts and BPHS facilities, and contributes to monitoring, evaluation, and capacity-building efforts. The position requires strong technical knowledge of community health programs, field experience, and adherence to MHCO’s safeguarding and professional standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular supervision/monitoring visits from health facilities, health posts and Health shuras.
- To participate in the preparation of project monthly action plan.
- To assist the Deputy project manager in finalization of monthly action plan of the project.
- To supervise the CHSs of health facilities and guide them in the preparation and implementation of their monthly action plan..
- To follow up the progress in project implementation.
- To create or restructure health shuras.
- To select and train new CHWs if needed.
- To conduct training need assessment of all CHSs and CHWs.
- To manage CHWs and CHSs refresher trainings.
- To register all HPs and GPS (as per MoPH’s request).
- To conduct CAAC in all HFs catchment area.
- To provide on job training to staff of HFs as well as CHWs.
- To participate in any refresher training and courses related to the project.
- To receive monthly report of HFs and HPs, check them with the HMIS Officer, monitor progress of activities and provide necessary feedback.
- To participate in any research, monitoring and evaluation activities related to the project.
- To follow up and ensure a smooth implementation of the referral system from health posts to BPHS Health facilities (BHCs, CHCs and CHC plus) and from HFs to HPs as well.
- To create a linkage of the program with community by establishing community health committee and councils.
- To ensure on time and appropriate supply of HPs.
- To guide health facilities’ staff to establish and maintain an effective filling system according to MoPH regulation.
- To prepare minutes of the meetings attended.
- To have regular interviews with CHWs and exit interviews with patients.
- To prepare field mission report.
- To prepare activity report.
- To provide information regarding CBHC activities to the the Techncial Deputy project manager in order to prepare monthly /quarterly and annual project activity report.
- Any other tasks required by the project.
