2. Background of the Job
The Ministry is currently engaged in managing and supervising gas fields in northern Afghanistan, including activities under the Bazarkhami, Kashkari, Zamarudsay, and related reservoirs.
The Ministry previously partnered with AfgChin under a 25-year contract to develop the Amu Darya oil/gas field. That agreement was terminated due to found repeated breaches of contractual obligations, including failure to meet investment and operational requirements, ignoring contractual standards, and neglecting environmental and capacity-building responsibilities. The Ministry needs technical experts to step in to evaluate site conditions, identify problems, give technical advice, and help restore operations steadily and effectively under government oversight.
The Ministry seeks a Well Logging Engineer to strengthen subsurface evaluation and ensure reliable data acquisition for field development planning.
3. Duties and Responsibilities
The Well Logging Engineer will:
- Plan, supervise, and interpret well logging operations.
- Evaluate formation properties including porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation.
- Provide real-time analysis during drilling and workover activities.
- Integrate logging data with geological and reservoir models.
- Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper use of logging equipment.
- Recommend logging techniques suitable for gas field conditions.
- Prepare reports and presentations to support technical decisions.
- Train Afghan staff in logging data interpretation and tool operation.
5. Compensation and Allowances
The salary, allowances, and other employment benefits for this international technical position are negotiable and will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications, experience, and prevailing international standards.
