2. Background of the Job
The Ministry is currently engaged in managing and supervising gas fields in northern Afghanistan, including activities under the Bazarkhami, Kashkari, Zamarudsay, and related reservoirs.
The Ministry previously partnered with AfgChin under a 25-year contract to develop the Amu Darya oil/gas field. That agreement was terminated due to found repeated breaches of contractual obligations, including failure to meet investment and operational requirements, ignoring contractual standards, and neglecting environmental and capacity-building responsibilities. The Ministry needs technical experts to step in to evaluate site conditions, identify problems, give technical advice, and help restore operations steadily and effectively under government oversight.
The Ministry seeks a Workover Engineer to provide technical support in well repair, stimulation, and intervention activities, ensuring that wells are safely restored to production.
3. Duties and Responsibilities
The Workover Engineer will:
- Design and supervise workover and well intervention operations.
- Diagnose well integrity issues and recommend repair solutions.
- Plan fishing, cementing, and recompletion operations.
- Provide technical input for stimulation treatments to enhance well productivity.
- Oversee the safe execution of well repair operations, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Work closely with drilling and petroleum engineers to improve well performance.
- Prepare workover programs, cost estimates, and post-job evaluations.
- Train Afghan engineers and technicians on workover techniques and safety practices.

The salary, allowances, and other employment benefits for this international technical position are negotiable and will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications, experience, and prevailing international standards.
