Job Summary:
The Vocational and Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying vocational training needs, facilitating apprenticeships, and supporting small business development among target beneficiaries, particularly vulnerable children. The role focuses on capacity building, skills development, and supporting income-generating activities through training, market analysis, mentorship, and follow-up.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Vocational Training Support:
- Conduct training needs assessments and identify appropriate vocational skills.
- Survey local markets to identify suitable apprenticeship opportunities.
- Develop skill-specific curricula in coordination with master trainers.
- Facilitate the placement of children into apprenticeships and ensure agreements are in place.
- Monitor training progress and provide feedback to apprentices and trainers.
- Manage attendance tracking and coordinate stipend disbursements.
- Ensure training environments are safe and equipped with necessary materials.
Business Development Support:
- Design and implement business development work plans at the provincial and regional levels.
- Conduct market assessments and identify viable business opportunities.
- Provide business training on topics such as market surveys, bookkeeping, sales, and marketing.
- Support the development and implementation of business plans for youth entrepreneurs.
- Monitor and evaluate small business performance, offering guidance and mentorship.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting monthly to project and program managers.
Coordination and Data Management:
- Work closely with case managers, psychosocial officers, and social workers to ensure integrated support.
- Participate in networking meetings and represent the program with external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update project data in KOBO or other relevant databases.
