We are seeking a motivated and qualified WASH Assistant to support the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in vulnerable and underserved communities. The successful candidate should hold a diploma or bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and have at least 1–2 years of relevant experience in WASH activities.
The WASH Assistant will be responsible for supervising the construction of water points, supporting the formation and training of Water User Groups (WUGs), monitoring community participation, conducting field visits and surveys, and ensuring proper documentation and daily reporting. The role also includes coordination with contractors, community leaders, and the WASH Engineer to ensure that all activities are carried out effectively, safely, and in accordance with humanitarian standards and local practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, familiarity with rural Afghan communities, and a willingness to travel frequently to field sites are essential. Knowledge of hygiene promotion, basic technical understanding of WASH infrastructure, and computer skills (Word, Excel, Kobo/ODK) are also required. Fluency in Pashto and Dari is necessary; English is an advantage.
