Position Summary:
The Community social Mobilizer plays a role in promoting health services and community engagement at a Basic Health Center (BHC) HF. The health component of the project aims to provide outpatient healthcare to drought-affected populations in critical need of life-saving medical assistance in areas lacking access to government health services (white areas). The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for community sensitization, awareness, beneficiary identification, and the effective operation of health initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities And Duties:
Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about health services offered at the BHC, including vaccination programs, maternal and child health, and disease prevention.
Organize and facilitate community meetings to discuss health issues, gather feedback, and promote health education.
Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for health initiatives.
Assist in mobilizing, sensitizing, and seeking community and local authority participation at all levels.
Develop and implement health education programs tailored to the community’s needs, focusing on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, family planning, and disease prevention.
Utilize effective communication strategies to encourage positive health behaviours and practices among community members.
Provide health education sessions for community leaders and religious leaders in the field.
Assist community members in accessing health services at the BHC, ensuring they receive appropriate care and follow-up.
Collect data on community health needs, service utilization, and program effectiveness to inform health planning and decision-making.
Identify and select beneficiaries for health and nutrition activities.
Prepare weekly/monthly reports for the supervisor based on the needs and activities conducted.
- Training and Capacity Building:
Train and mentor community health volunteers and peer educators to enhance their skills in health promotion and community mobilization.
Organize workshops and seminars for community members on various health topics to increase knowledge and awareness.
Maintain accurate records of community activities, outreach efforts, and health education sessions.
Conduct field visits to related HF catchment area districts and village to monitor activities and engage with the community.
Work closely with healthcare providers and staff at the BHC to ensure a coordinated approach to community health.

Stay updated on community health trends, best practices, and relevant policies to effectively engage and mobilize the community.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance community health services and outreach efforts.
Execute other activities as instructed by the Health supervisor and project manager.
