About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization and is a non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is operating since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN and most of the national and international Clusters operates based in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design, plan, and coordinate all humanitarian aid and development cooperation projects in alignment with beneficiary needs, national policies, OHW, donor program objectives, and international standards.
  2. Supervise the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities, ensuring integration with relevant clusters and sectors.
  3. Review country context, identify gaps, conduct needs assessments, and draft project concepts in coordination with team members.
  4. Represent the organization to government and local authorities, Clusters/task forces, and other stakeholders.
  5.  Conduct need assessments and support the Senior Program Manager in developing new project proposals. Support field teams of implementing partners to ensure project activities achieve desired goals.
  6.  Provide technical guidance and training to the Health staff.
  7. Ensure project sustainability within the local infrastructure and oversee finances, resource management, and medical supply chain.
  8.  Travel frequently to project sites, monitoring activities, ensuring quality standards, and identifying areas for improvement. Strengthen team contribution and commitment towards organizational goals
  9. . Collaborate with administrators and logisticians to maintain administrative, financial, and logistical procedures.
  10.  Monitor field documentation for transparency and donor audits, support team communication, and welfare. Perform other tasks as requested by the Country Director.
  11. Program coordinator for Health System Strengthening (HSS), establish the strategic
  12.  Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program
  13.  Liaise with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery
  14. Ensure that the program operate within the approved budget
  15.  Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  16.  Write reports on the program for management
  17. Conduct and evaluate needs assessment for the training programs 
  18.  Organizing the training to government department with the coordination senior management
  19.  Participate in meetings and events invited by donors, government and other stakeholders.
  20.  Ensure adequate communication with all local Partners in relation to IDPs and Returnees as well as their training and capacity development.
  21.  Translate texts and presentations from National languages (Dari and Pashto) into English and vice versa
  22.  in consultation with the Senior Management Team, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff as per project need.
  23.  Ensure all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
  24. Contribute to designing and revising OHW strategy and work plan to be based on changing needs, priorities, and projects effectiveness and feasibility.
  25.  Provide required information to have invoices generated and submitted to funders according to the established timelines with consultancy of management team
  26.  Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks
  27.  Respect the Afghan culture, keeping events and themes tuned and balanced in all program activities

 Report evaluation findings to the Program Manager and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate.

Job Requirements:
  •   Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing health and nutrition projects, preferably in a humanitarian or development context with international or UN agencies.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of health and nutrition interventions, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Experience in project planning, coordination, and management, with a track record of successful project implementation.(BPHS /HER)
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building and mentoring of project staff.
  • Knowledge of health system strengthening approaches and community-based health and nutrition programs.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation principles and tools for health and nutrition projects.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and software for data management and reporting.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
