About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Descriptions:
  • Conduct conflict and value chain analyses to identify key drivers affecting agriculture and livestock in target communities.
  • Assess agriculture and livestock value chains to identify market opportunities and integration points for local producers.
  • Facilitate the development of climate-smart agricultural practices to enhance food security and income generation.
  • Promote horizontal and vertical community engagement in value chain development to strengthen social interconnectedness.
  • Support the implementation of training projects for community members on best practices in agriculture and livestock management.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders to enhance access to markets and improve sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable populations.
  • Conduct conflict sensitivity analyses to ensure all interventions address key drivers of conflict within communities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of agricultural and livestock interventions on community livelihoods.
  • Document and report on project activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for stakeholders and management.
  • Facilitate participatory community engagement initiatives to promote ownership of agriculture and livestock projects.
  • Support the organization of community events to showcase agricultural innovations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other project staff to integrate agriculture and livestock initiatives with health and nutrition efforts.
  • Provide technical support for mass livestock vaccination and deworming campaigns.
  • Foster partnerships with local organizations and government agencies to enhance project effectiveness and reach.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Livestock Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in agriculture and livestock value chain development.
  • Knowledge of climate-smart agricultural practices and market linkages.
  • Experience in conflict sensitivity and community engagement.
  • Ability to facilitate training for farmers and producers.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
