Position Description:

The Livelihood Project focuses on enhancing rural livelihoods and resilience among various target groups, including men, women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The position aims to protect and stabilize these livelihoods by maintaining essential agricultural services, promoting income-generating activities, and fostering community engagement. The Livelihood and Resilience Officer will report to the Field Officer and will be responsible for planning, managing, and reporting on agricultural components, collaborating closely with district managers, field officers, and target groups to implement interventions

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the manager for planning and designing agriculture and food security activities (crop and livestock farming, income generating, irrigation, agricultural market development and promotion, etc.).
  • Develop monthly and quarterly work and budget plans, including monthly monitoring plans, for agricultural components of the project.
  • Participate in baseline surveys and needs assessments in order to generate appropriate livelihood data in determining community needs and gaps.
  • Conduct technical assessments and surveys (agriculture, market, and livelihoods) to design and implement agricultural, including livestock, related activities.
  • Facilitate the identification, targeting and selection of agriculture, livestock and income generation target groups for livelihood interventions (inputs, materials and trainings, etc.).
  • Work closely with local stakeholders, committees, groups and associations in targeting and selecting beneficiaries for different livelihood activities.
  • Plan and organize trainings and demonstrations on improved farming and income generating activities (crop production, livestock raising and market/business skills) in coordination with field staff, service providers and/or field-level extension agents.
  • Deliver group management skills to community-level committees and groups for the management and sustainability of agricultural and income generating groups.
  • Develop field-level distribution plans and deliver livelihood inputs and materials, including technical demonstrations, to target groups.
  • Conduct regular field-level monitoring visits and provide regular internal reporting using standard tools and formats.
  • Take the lead in facilitating linkages between producers (farmers, agricultural and livestock groups, etc.) and market actors (input suppliers, processors, traders, buyers, etc.).
  • Conduct capacity needs assessment of field/technical assistants and field mobilizers and design appropriate capacity building interventions.
  • Facilitate and conduct on the job training/coaching to field technical assistants and mobilizers.
  • Responsible for accountability and transparency in the implementation of approved budgets; ensuring that all expenditures are presented properly and timely.
  • Analyse risks and take proactive role in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies at local level.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships and coordination with relevant local authorities in districts and provinces.
  • The holder of this position must strictly follow the organization's existing security policies, procedures, and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
