We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers.

Job Descriptions:

ROLE PURPOSE: The Child Protection Officer (CPO) will be responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of children with disabilities under the project. They will work closely with families, social workers, healthcare providers, schools, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement child protection strategies, assess risks, and intervene in cases of abuse or neglect. The CPO will advocate for the rights of children with disabilities, providing support and guidance to ensure their access to services and a safe environment.

Responsability: 

  • Assess and monitor the safety and protection needs of children with disabilities, ensuring they are safe from abuse, neglect, exploitation, or discrimination
  • Establish a good working relation with authorities in communities and maintain regular, effective and meaningful contact with children with disability and families,
  • Conduct regular child protection risk assessments to identify potential threats or risks in the child’s environment (home, school, or community).
  • Develop and implement child protection plans in collaboration with families, caregivers, and relevant stakeholders
  • Increase awareness of communities, teachers and families of the unique problems faced by PWDs and how to address those problems
  • Ensure that the implemented project activities are disability inclusive.
  • Ensure transparent communication with partners.
  • Support the coordination and the organization of programmers for visitors travelling to the covered catchment areas.
  • Facilitate awareness raising for communities on relevant MHPSS and child protection concerns.                     
  • Providing support, guidance and counselling to families and individuals in need, including facilitation of group PSS sessions.
  • Ensure supervision, coaching and orientation of MHPSS staff working with beneficiaries taking part in MHPSS activities
  • Ensure all project staff related M&E tools are utilized, information collected, analyzed and actions taken to ensure quality service provision;
  • Collect, compile and analyze monthly reports from the project staff  and submit to central level;
  • Participate and ensure participation of social workers in capacity building initiatives implemented at the sector level;
  • Attend the MHPSS trainings organized sci throughout the year and document main messages and protocols of interventions to be shared with social workers in different projects
  • Mapping and regular update of the existing services and awareness raising on existing services among targeted communities.
  • Conduct induction meetings with families, children with disability, teachers, community, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct relevant CP and MHPSS trainings for the project staff and build their capacities according to the capacity gaps assessment key findings.
  • Provide technical supervision and support of field staff through regular contact, field visits or meetings.
  • Capacity building of local child protection structures for safe identification and referrals of child protection cases.
  •  Collaborate with child protection services, social workers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Engage with local communities, schools, and organizations to raise awareness about the specific needs and rights of children with disabilities.
  • Work with legal authorities, when needed, to address any cases of abuse or neglect, ensuring the child's voice and needs are central in all actions.
  • Providing capacity building sessions for communities, families and teachers related to Project,  
  • Support access to legal supports and services for children with diability and their families as needed and where possible.
  • Attend relevant inter-agency coordination meetings, workshops and conferences as required and assigned by Line Manager.
  • Maintain and effective filing system for storing project documentation in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Conduction of ongoing assessment to address child with disability.

  • Any other tasks relate to child protection programs given by line manager.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 16th grade graduate
  • Well communicate in Dari, Pashto, Uzbeky and English
  • Knowledge on disability and inclusive development
  • Diploma from any Field with 2 years of work experience
  • Knowledge of the dominant language in the province.
  • Computer Knowledge.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environment
  • Strong communication skill especially with the communities and children
  • Being able to empower caregivers to support children.
  • Should know what types of child protection issues require for children with disability
  • Should have enough knowledge of humanitarian principles and Do No Harm Policy
  • Being able to travel within the province and outside the province.
