Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The Child Protection Caseworker is responsible for providing direct support of case management services to vulnerable children and their families, following established child protection principles, standards, and guidelines. This role involves conducting assessments, developing case plans, and ensuring that the best interests of the child are prioritized in all interventions. Additionally, the caseworker must document cases and upload the information to CPIMS+, as well as conduct case meetings with their supervisor.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of at-risk children and their families.
  • Develop and implement case plans with clear objectives and timelines.
  • Provide individualized support and follow-up services to meet children’s protection needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files per organizational and legal standards.

Service Coordination:

  • Coordinate with relevant service providers to ensure timely and practical support.
  • Refer cases to specialized services (e.g., mental health, legal aid) when necessary.
  • Collaborate with community-based child protection committees (CBCPCs) and other stakeholders.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Conduct regular follow-ups to monitor progress and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Review and adjust case plans as needed based on the child's and family's evolving needs.

Advocacy and Awareness:

  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children within the community and with service providers.
  • Facilitate awareness-raising sessions on child protection issues, including child rights, risks of child abuse, and psychosocial well-being.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate case reports, including challenges and achievements.
  • Maintain updated records in line with data protection and confidentiality policies.

Capacity Building:

  • Participate in training sessions to enhance child protection and case management skills and knowledge.
  • Support the training and mentoring of community volunteers and other child protection actors.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, and other Social Science or related field or 14th grade graduate from reputable institution is mandatory/ Diploma in child protection would be advantages.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with bachelor’s and 3 years with 14th grade in child protection or social services.
  • Proven experience in case management and psychosocial support, preferably in humanitarian settings.

Competency:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dari and Pashto, and English is desirable.
  • Honest, hardworking and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments.
  • Ability to give full attention to what social service clients are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions, and not interrupt inappropriately.
  • Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Able to develop a treatment plan.
  • Able to deliver training and orientation session in the community.
