Curriculum Delivery:
• Plan the sequence of tests, lessons, and quizzes on a termly basis in effective collaboration with the learning unit and regional office teams.
• Plan lessons and deliver effective lessons to students of different age groups and proficiency levels using a variety of teaching methods and resources.
• Develop, adopt, or adapt engaging learning materials using available resources.
• Monitor students’ learning, conduct quizzes and tests, and provide constructive feedback or remedial sessions for low achievers.
• Assign relevant daily homework and weekly projects, regularly checking them and providing feedback.
Student Support:
• Provide academic support and guidance to students to help them achieve their language learning goals.
• Adopt a positive and respectful learning environment where students feel motivated and supported in their language learning journey.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to address any concerns or issues related to student progress.
Professional Development:
• Continuously enhance teaching skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources for English language instruction.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to stay abreast of developments in English language teaching.
Administrative Tasks:
• Collaborate with regional leadership and colleagues to contribute to the overall success of the English language program.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and progress reports.
• Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities to ensure alignment with academic standards and learning objectives.
• Carry out the roles and responsibilities in a way which reflects AKESA’s commitment to protecting children, beneficiaries, partners, community members and employees in accordance with Safeguarding Manual and Child Safeguarding Policy.
Occasional Significant Duties and Responsibilities:
• Take active participation in meetings and workshops for quality improvement or professional development.
• Influence and motivate the staff, students, and parents to work as a team.
• Provide cover for other teachers when on leave, taking into account the possibilities.
