Job Summary
The Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, obtaining accurate images and measurements, and supporting physicians in the diagnosis and management of patients. The specialist is also responsible for the proper use, care, cleaning, and maintenance of ultrasound equipment and ensuring that all equipment is kept in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician requests, hospital protocols, and professional standards.
• Conduct routine ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynecological, breast, thyroid, and other examinations within the scope of professional practice.
• Obtain high-quality and diagnostically useful ultrasound images and measurements.
• Record and document examination findings accurately and maintain complete patient records.
• Provide appropriate information and instructions to patients before and during the examination.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
• Identify and communicate significant or urgent findings to the responsible physician according to hospital procedures.
• Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures when required and within professional competency.
• Use ultrasound equipment properly and responsibly and ensure that the equipment is handled safely at all times.
• Maintain, clean, and care for ultrasound equipment and accessories according to manufacturer and hospital guidelines.
• Keep the ultrasound equipment and examination area clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Report any equipment malfunction, damage, or technical problem immediately to the concerned supervisor or responsible department.
• Take appropriate measures to prevent damage or misuse of hospital equipment.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures during and after examinations.
• Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
• Follow hospital policies, professional standards, ethical requirements, and patient safety procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement, training, and continuing professional development activities.
• He/She is responsible for the proper use, handling and care of all ultrasound equipment and accessories. He/She must ensure that the equipment is used appropriately, kept clean and safe, and maintained in good working condition. Any damage, malfunction, or technical problem must be reported immediately to the concerned supervisor.
• Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Medical Director and Hospital Manager.
