Job Summary

The Livelihoods / Private Sector Specialist will provide technical leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood and private sector development interventions. The position is responsible for strengthening women's economic empowerment through sustainable livelihood opportunities, entrepreneurship development, market linkages, business capacity building, and engagement with private sector actors.

The Specialist will work closely with project staff, government institutions, local communities, financial service providers, business associations, and development partners to promote inclusive economic growth, improve market access, support value chain development, and ensure that project interventions contribute to sustainable income generation and resilience for women in the target communities.

Job Requirements:

 

  1. Lead the technical design, planning, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood and private sector development activities.

  2. Conduct market assessments, value chain analyses, and livelihood assessments to identify sustainable economic opportunities for women.

  3. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen women's entrepreneurship, business development, and income-generating activities.

  4. Facilitate business skills training, financial literacy, vocational development, and enterprise development initiatives for project beneficiaries.

  5. Establish and strengthen partnerships with private sector companies, business associations, cooperatives, financial institutions, and market actors.

  6. Support the development of market linkages that improve access to local, regional, and national markets for women-led businesses and producer groups.

  7. Provide technical guidance on business planning, enterprise management, marketing, product development, and value addition.

  8. Ensure that livelihood interventions are inclusive, gender-responsive, environmentally sustainable, and aligned with project objectives.

  9. Monitor project performance against livelihood and private sector indicators and recommend improvements where necessary.

  10. Prepare technical reports, assessments, case studies, success stories, and project documentation in accordance with donor requirements.

  11. Coordinate closely with government authorities, community leaders, development partners, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation.

  12. Contribute to annual work plans, budgets, procurement planning, and technical specifications related to livelihood activities.

  13. Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities by collecting and analyzing technical data.

  14. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, safeguarding standards, and ethical principles throughout project implementation.

  15. Represent EWSSO in technical coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations related to livelihoods, private sector engagement, and economic development.

  16. Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Project Manager to support successful implementation of the project.
