Overall Objective of the Position
The TFU Pediatric specialist is responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based clinical management of complicated Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases at Paktika Khair Kot district Hospital TFU in accordance with MoPH, IMAM, and WHO guidelines. The position ensures effective inpatient therapeutic care, medical supervision of complicated SAM cases, technical leadership of the TFU team, and compliance with PU-AMI standards in reporting, accountability, and safeguarding

Responsibilities and particular assignments
Objective 1: Clinical Management and Technical Implementation of Inpatient Care (TFU)
ð Making sure that nutrition services in TFU including IPD SAM are well organized and delivered.
ð Making sure that the screening process is going well for all children under 5 years (CU5).
ð Respecting recommended MoPH, Nutrition/IMAM, and WHO guidelines in the treatment of inpatients.
ð Conduct regular examinations on complicated acutely malnourished children and record their health and normal physical development in TSS, MSS and treatment cards
ð Recommend and manage treatment, medication, and additional specialized medical care to prevent or treat diseases and complications associated with malnutrition.
ð Monitor progress of treatment, conditions of patient and revise treatments as needed
ð Examine sick children with malnutrition to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms
ð Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history
ð Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration for each Complicated cases to care givers and nutrition nurse
ð Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities
ð Advise caregivers on children’s diet, food diversity, immunization, balance food exercise and disease preventive measures
ð Making sure that nursing care of IPD children is well respected.
ð Clearly record all patient data, including history, exams performed, past and current medications, vaccination information, diagnosis and treatment plans.
ð Provide night duty services as per HF schedule.
Objective 2; Data collection, Monitoring and reporting
ð Making sure that all the default patients are followed and traced
ð Making sure that all the reports are well recorded and reported on monthly or weekly bases as required.
ð Making sure that the nutrition supply is enough and sufficient and informing the supervisors in case of shortages to avoid the stock out
ð Making sure that TFU assets use and maintenance is respected.
ð Provision of visibility charts of TFU services and their updating monthly wise.
ð Attending relevant meetings and trainings.
ð Follow up of feedbacks which provide by management team or external monitors and ensure it follow up with the HF team.
ð Making sure that breast milk substitute (BMS) code is properly implemented based on the MoPH and WHO guideline.
ð Provision of monthly , bi- weekly report to management team at PU-AMI office and if needed to the PPHD,BPHS- Implementor
ð Monitor the team and attendance sheet of the staff.
ð Monitoring/supporting supervision from the team and provide the on the job training to the staff regular on daily, weekly and monthly bases.
ð Monitor all the activities are going well according to the MoPH and WHO guidelines
ð Safe Keeping of medical and non-medical equipment record and physical inventory according to the PU-AMI/ MoPH policy along with pharma.
ð Close coordination with the PH director and nursing manager.
ð Submission of on time report to the relevant staff based on the deadline.
ð Support the PO for the running cost and expenditures and closed follow up.
ð Follow up of stock cards for the nutrition commodities and in case any pharma.
Objective 3: Accountability and Safeguarding
· In coordination with MEAL team, ensure that feedback channels are available and accessible to project’s participants
· Coordinate timely, complete and accurate response to complaints as per Program Manager instruction
· Contribute to technical and programmatic solutions, and to integration of feedback into programming (adaptive management)
· Actively participate in Monthly Accountability Meetings
· Adhere to PU-AMI organizational policies (incl. CoC, Child protection policy, anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy, PSEA policy) and report any policy violations, suspicions, or allegations through the whistle-blower mechanismð
