Skills Training and Rehabilitation Society (STARS) is committed to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse and promoting a safe and respectful working environment. STARS has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, and any form of misconduct. All staff members are expected to adhere to STARS’ Code of Conduct and PSEA policies. The successful candidate will be required to sign and comply with these policies and participate in mandatory PSEA training. Job Descriptions:

•    Mobilize and engage women beneficiaries in establishing and maintaining kitchen gardens.
•    Conduct practical training sessions on kitchen gardening techniques, including soil preparation, seed selection, planting, irrigation, and organic pest control.
•    Educate beneficiaries on climate-resilient and water-efficient gardening methods.
•    Provide guidance on composting and organic fertilizer use to improve soil fertility.
•    Demonstrate proper harvesting and post-harvest storage techniques to minimize waste.
•    Encouraging beneficiaries for selling their products in the local market and using for the household level needs.
•    Beneficiaries’ Selection of Women for the Vegetable Package and Distribution of the Package to Selected Beneficiaries
•    Promote nutrition awareness, emphasizing the importance of homegrown vegetables for household food security.
•    Encourage to use the provided seeds for the kitchen gardening.
•    Conduct regular follow-up visits to assess garden progress and provide technical support.
•    Identify challenges faced by beneficiaries and suggest practical solutions.
•    The vegetable expert trainer must adhere to STARS Code of Conduct, safeguarding and PSEA policies, and organizational values at all times.
•    Prepare regular field and progress reports on beneficiary selection, distribution, and training activities.
•    Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the project manager to support the effective implementation of project activities.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
    •    Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in horticulture, crop production, or agricultural project implementation.
    •    Strong technical knowledge of fruit, vegetable, and nursery production systems.
    •    Practical experience in pest and disease identification and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
    •    Good understanding of soil fertility management, irrigation systems, and greenhouse production.
    •    Experience in conducting farmer training sessions and capacity-building activities.
    •    Ability to prepare technical reports, work plans, and monitoring documents.
    •    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    •    Good communication skills in local language(s) and English.
    •    Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    •    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    •    Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and rural areas.
    •    Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    •    Understanding of climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices.
    •    Experience working with NGOs, government agricultural departments, or development projects is preferred.
