Job Descriptions:

Job Summary :

Under the direct supervision of the medical doctor in charge of the BHC or mobile health team, she will provide the following service.

  • The MHPSS Counsellor provides direct mental health and psychosocial support services to vulnerable populations affected by conflict, displacement, and emergencies.

  • The MHPSS counselor role is involves conducting individual and group counselling.

  • She will provide psychosocial assessment, community awareness, and capacity building, and refer clients to appropriate services.

  • The counsellor works in coordination with health and protection teams to support overall well-being and resilience.

Main responsibilities :

  • Provide psychoeducation sessions to MHPSS beneficiaries and their families to enhance understanding of mental health conditions and coping strategies.

  • Perform all duties in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with MHPSS guidelines and standards.

  • Develop and improve community awareness materials that are context-sensitive, culturally appropriate, and easy to understand for beneficiaries experiencing stress-related symptoms.

  • Establish and maintain service mapping and ensure an effective and functional referral pathway for beneficiaries.

  • Deliver evidence-based individual therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), for conditions such as depression and anxiety.

  • Conduct assessments and case management, identifying beneficiaries’ needs and developing appropriate support plans.

  • Provide basic psychosocial support (PSS) and related interventions.

  • Respond to crisis situations, offering immediate support to individuals in distress or emergency conditions.

  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting, maintaining accurate and confidential records of all cases and activities.

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with beneficiaries by actively listening to their needs and concerns.

Job Requirements:

Education :

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related discipline.

Experience / Skills :

At least three years of work experience in the field of MHPSS, with relevant training in MHPSS counseling or psychological counseling.

Languages:

Strong and effective oral and written communication skills in local languages
