JOB PURPOSE:
The Daily construction engineer is responsible for day-to-day technical supervision, quality control, and execution monitoring of civil works related to agricultural irrigation canals, masonry structures, and flood wash rehabilitation works. The role ensures that all construction activities are implemented in accordance with approved technical drawings, specifications, BoQ, and engineering standards, with particular attention to durability, hydraulic performance, and flood resistance.
Main Duties and Resposibalities:
1. Conduct continuous on-site supervision of canal excavation, lining, masonry works, and flood damage repair activities.
2. Ensure works are executed strictly as per approved drawings, profiles, levels, and alignments. Agricultural irrigation canals, Flood protection channels and diversion channels.
3. Ensure proper canal cross-sections, bed slopes, side slopes, and freeboard to prevent erosion and overtopping.
4. Supervise stone masonry works including retaining walls, canal lining, headwalls, and protection structures.
5. Use of sound, durable, and non-weathered stones, Correct mortar mix ratios (cement sand), Proper bonding, joint thickness, and compaction, Adequate curing and finishing of masonry works.
6. Monitor construction of protection works such as toe walls, wing walls, and energy dissipation structures.
7. Perform daily quality checks on materials, Stone quality and size, Sand cleanliness and grading, Cement handling and storage.
8. Control workmanship standards and immediately correct poor-quality execution.
9. Ensure compliance with technical specifications and acceptance criteria for each activity.
10. Take daily measurements of completed work (length, width, height, volume).
11. Maintain daily site records including Work progress, labor attendance, material consumption.
12. Support preparation of daily work reports and verified quantities for payment purposes.
13. Coordinate daily activities with site supervisors, foremen, and community labor groups.
14. Provide clear technical instructions to skilled and unskilled laborers.
