About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

Job Descriptions:

The Agriculture Economist will support market analysis, value chain development, farmer aggregation, and market linkage activities to enhance income-generation outcomes.

  • Conduct agricultural market and value chain assessments
  • Identify market opportunities, traders, and off-takers
  • Support farmer group formation and collective marketing
  • Facilitate business-to-business (B2B) linkages
  • Provide technical input to agri-SME support and grant mechanisms
  • Monitor market outcomes and income-related indicators
  • Contribute to technical reporting and documentation

Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor/SMT

Job Requirements:

Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in market systems and value chain development
  • Experience working with smallholder farmers and Agri-SMEs
  • Experience in humanitarian–development programming preferred
  • Market analysis and data interpretation
  • Private sector engagement
  • Communication and facilitation skills

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Dari and Pashto, English skills will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics, and development.
  • At least 4 years of experience working with government and/or NGOs in hygiene promotion in the fragile environment/region.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, child development, and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments promptly often under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring & evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan Humanitarian system/context, WASH and Emergencies.
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors, and beneficiaries.

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Dari and Pashto, fluent in English will be a plus point
