Job Descriptions:

The Mining Project Specialist is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing exploration and extraction activities in mining projects. This role ensures that all mining operations are technically sound, economically feasible, and environmentally responsible, in accordance with national and international standards. The specialist provides expert analysis, develops detailed project proposals, and supports decision-making to optimize resource discovery and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and Development of Project Proposals:
- Develop comprehensive proposals for mining exploration and extraction projects.
- Conduct site analysis, define project objectives, and identify mineral-rich areas.
- Estimate resources, prepare implementation schedules, and calculate project costs.
- Ensure proposals comply with national regulations, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum standards, and relevant international guidelines.
Planning and Designing Mineral Exploration:
- Prepare structured and phased exploration plans, including geological studies, geophysical and geochemical surveys, systematic sampling, and exploratory drilling.
- Analyze laboratory results and ensure exploration plans minimize geological and operational risks.
Development of Mining Extraction Plans:
- Design extraction strategies considering mineral type, deposit geometry, geological conditions, and site accessibility.
- Select mining methods (open-pit or underground), optimize cutting and extraction techniques, and implement waste management and environmental mitigation measures.
- Ensure worker safety and post-mining site rehabilitation.
Selection of Exploration Methods:
- Evaluate and select cost-effective and result-oriented exploration methods based on deposit type, depth, and technical resources.
- Compare methods for accuracy, implementation time, and success rate to maximize economic viability.
Data Analysis and Technical Recommendations:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from exploration and extraction activities.
- Provide technical recommendations to improve planning, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce project risks.
- Support project management in informed decision-making.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
Proven experience in mining project planning, exploration, and extraction.
Strong knowledge of mining methods, geological surveying, and resource estimation.
Proficiency in relevant software for modeling, planning, and data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Knowledge of national mining regulations and international standards.
