Founded in 1992, we've touched lives across 20 provinces, partnering with organizations like UNHCR and WFP to deliver emergency shelter, food security, and protection services. As our Finance Manager, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our resources are managed with precision and integrity, allowing us to maximize impact where it's needed most. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, your role will focus on preparing and examining financial entries, verifying accuracy, ensuring timely tax payments, and handling all finance and accounting-related tasks. You'll play a pivotal part in keeping our operations efficient, compliant, and transparent, especially in a dynamic NGO environment where every dollar (or Afghani) counts toward building resilience in conflict-affected areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As Finance Manager, you'll oversee the financial health of WSTA, blending hands-on accounting with strategic oversight. Your contributions will directly support our humanitarian efforts, from cash-based interventions to infrastructure rehabilitation. Key responsibilities include:
Financial Recording and Accuracy: Maintain accurate records for all daily transactions, process accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank statements, track bank deposits and payments, and update internal systems with the latest financial data.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, and expense reports. Conduct financial analysis, identify trends, and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies, or other financial-related challenges.
Policy and Compliance: Develop and implement financial policies to enhance operational efficiency, manage cash controls, ensure data integrity in all reporting, and maintain up-to-date bookkeeping. Oversee the preparation of financial statements, invoices, proposals, and ledgers (general and subsidiary).
Budget and Expense Management: Ensure all expenses align with assigned project budgets, track investments, maintain cash reserves, and verify that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
Project Audits and Internal Controls: Lead project audits, including preparation for external audits, and implement robust internal controls to mitigate risks. Draw from experience in successfully passing audits across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, Afghan taxation laws, and NGO financial standards.
NGO-Specific Expertise: Navigate the unique financial structures of an NGO, including donor-funded budgeting, multi-currency handling (e.g., AFN and USD), and supporting organizational financial goals.
Team Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the Deputy Director and other departments to foster a culture of financial accountability, providing guidance on QuickBooks for seamless integration and efficiency.
