About French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children:

Since 2006, the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) in Kabul, Afghanistan, has served patients from all 34 provinces. Operated through a public-private partnership among the Governments of Afghanistan and France, La Chaine de L’Espoir, and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), with management by the Aga Khan University, FMIC delivers world-class medical services and drives healthcare innovation in the region.

Job Descriptions:
  1. Regular Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct patient consultations, assessments, and diagnosis.
  • Prescribe appropriate treatments, medications, and follow-up plans.
  • Perform procedures within their scope of practice and assist in complex cases under supervision or independently as per granted privileges.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient history, examination findings, and care plans.
  • Adhere to ISO and SafeCare standards in all clinical activities.
  • Maintain patient safety protocols, infection control measures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with consultants, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver multidisciplinary care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families about diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to ensure effective patient care.
  • Respond to medical emergencies promptly and efficiently.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and ensure continuity of care during shifts.
  • Contribute to departmental audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement programs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.

 

  1. Regular Responsibilities:
  • Attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, workshops, and training programs.
  • Stay updated on the latest medical advancements and clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical audits, peer reviews, and quality improvement projects.
  • Prepare for and contribute to ISO and SafeCare accreditation reviews.
  • Support hospital outreach programs and health awareness campaigns.
Job Requirements:

Qualification and Requirements

  • Medical Degree from a recognized university.
  • Registered with the Afghan Medical Council (AMC)

Work experience:

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in management is an advantage.

Any other Factors:

  • Exposure to high-pressure situations, including emergencies.
  • Requirement to work in shifts, including night duties and on-call responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, including critical patient care.
  • Physical stamina to manage long hours in clinical settings.
  • Adherence to medical ethics, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
  • Compliance with healthcare laws and hospital policies.
