The Triage Assistant plays a vital role in healthcare settings such as BHC by providing initial assessment, registration and support for patients seeking care. This position requires a graduate from class 12 with some medical background, preferably a nursing background to ensure effective communication, patient evaluation, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Patient Assessment: Conduct brief assessments of patients' medical histories, symptoms, and vital signs to determine the urgency of care required.
• Triage Protocols: Apply established triage protocols to prioritize patient care based on the severity of their conditions.
• Documentation: Accurately document patient information through a manual registration process, record triage decisions and referral of patient to the required department as per patient need and priority.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with patients and their families to explain triage processes, provide reassurance, and answer questions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
• Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations by providing immediate support and following established protocols for critical care.
• Patient Education: Educate patients on the available services, staff and patient flow and procedures of clinic as well as follow-up of care.
• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining medical supplies and equipment needed for triage and patient care.
I-The role involves direct contact with sick patients and exposure to high-stress situations.
- The incumbent must comply rigorously with all facility health and safety protocols, including routine sanitation, hygiene standards, and mandatory PPE use.
• Support crowd management to avoid congestion in waiting areas.
• Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols strictly.
• Participate in regular staff meetings and training.
