The Mining Exploration Quality Assurance Specialist’s responsibilities are to provide consultancy services on implementation of globally accepted standards of mining explorations.
The Specialist will be responsible to coordinate support services, report on improvements and issues, enhance practices, ensure transparency, preserve mineral resources and provide assurance on proper execution of mining exploration.
Duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Provide advisory services to the Directorate regarding the quality assurance of mining exploration.
- Assess the quality of data from mining exploration and ensuring the proper execution of exploration processes including geological, geophysical, geochemical and drilling studies.
- Ensure the accuracy of sampling procedures, laboratory analysis and the criteria applied in such assessments for proper and reliable mineral reserves information.
- Control the quality and accuracy of exploration reports, technical documents, maps and results to assess the level of extractable reserves.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards during exploration processes
- Prepare study reports, analysis of exploration status, and violations/weaknesses from technical and qualitative perspectives and offering recommendations to relevant authorities.
- Provide consultancy to mining technical inspectors for ensuring proper execution of accepted standards and methods in mining.
- Provide support for effective and efficient operation of all activities undertaken by the Directorate.
- Provide support in developing and updating relevant manuals and procedures being used by the Directorate when required.
- Support the Directorate in implementation of relevant mining manuals, and procedures as per international standards.
- Support in performing assessment and evaluation of practices, and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Provide advisory support in finalizing the periodical activities reports of the Directorate and/or prepare periodic reports as required by the Directorate.
- Attend management meeting organized by the Directorate and other departments of the MoMP when required.
- Plan, develop and manage on-the-job and other required specialized training programs to enhance the capacity building of the departmental staff in discharging the responsibilities stipulated in job description.
