Job Description:
As part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities and enhance youth and women’s access to dignified income-generating skills, Rupani Foundation, in partnership with UNWFP, is implementing a Jewelry Making Training Program focused on silver, copper, and gold. Afghanistan has a long tradition of craftsmanship, and this initiative builds on that legacy by training participants in modern and traditional techniques of fine jewelry making. The goal is to enable trainees to create high-quality jewelry products suitable for both local and international markets, thereby fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment.
General Responsibilities:
The Silver Trainer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and facilitating technical and practical training sessions in silver jewelry making for selected beneficiaries. The trainer will provide hands-on instruction in design, cutting, soldering, engraving, and polishing techniques, ensuring participants acquire high-quality craftsmanship skills. S/he will ensure effective capacity building, follow-up support, and proper documentation of training sessions. The trainer will work closely with project stakeholders and report to the line manager on progress, challenges, and achievements.
Specific Duties:
- Deliver structured training sessions on metal jewelry design, cutting, soldering, engraving, and polishing techniques for silver, copper, and gold.
- Teach trainees how to handle tools and materials safely and efficiently.
- Guide trainees through the full jewelry-making process from raw materials to finished, marketable products.
- Develop customized designs that reflect both traditional Afghan craftsmanship and modern market trends.
- Encourage precision, creativity, and attention to detail in the finishing of each product.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and clean workshop environment.
- Create and distribute easy-to-understand training materials, manuals, and technical handouts.
- Track participant attendance and skill development; assess progress through practical evaluations.
- Support trainees in preparing product samples for exhibitions, sales, and market linkages.
- Submit weekly/monthly progress reports, challenges, and recommendations to the project team.
- Participate in training-of-trainers sessions, internal meetings, and relevant project activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor related to the training or project implementation.
