Position Summary:
The Nurse / Nutrition Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care and nutritional guidance to patients in a Basic Health Center. This role involves assessing patients' health and nutrition needs, promoting wellness, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare and nutrition services
Essential Responsibilities And Duties:
Conduct thorough health assessments, including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and health history evaluations.
Ensure the principles of triage by selecting patients in the waiting room at least 3-4 times to identify those in life-threatening conditions and accompany them immediately to consultations.
Identify patients who come for follow-up treatment (e.g., injections or dressings) and direct them to the person responsible for registration.
Fill out and record basic patient information, including name, address, age, sex, residency status (resident/refugee), height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
Follow the registration book daily and register patients who come for follow-up visits, dressings, injections, etc., in the manipulation register book, referring them to appropriate rooms.
Provide basic manipulations as prescribed by the medical doctor.
Provide health education to patients on various health topics.
Evaluate patients' nutritional status and dietary needs, identifying individuals at risk for malnutrition.
Conduct screening of all children under 5 years old and pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Accurately measure and record MUAC, weight, height, and length of beneficiaries based on nutritional criteria.
Request nutritional supplies (Super Cereal, RUSF, RUTF) in a timely manner before stockouts occur at the clinic.
Properly manage and maintain supplied materials related to OPD MAM and OPD SAM, documenting distributed materials in registers and stock cards.
Record necessary patient information in the relevant registers and stock cards.
Distribute RUTF, RUSF, and Super Cereal to children and pregnant or breastfeeding women suffering from moderate acute malnutrition according to IMAM protocols.
Deliver essential messages regarding the correct use of RUSF and Super Cereal to children and women with moderate acute malnutrition.
Prepare monthly stock reports related to the OPD-SAM/MAM program.
Manage and appropriately conduct OPD MAM and OPD SAM services during peak times.
Prepare monthly supply requests for OPD SAM.
- Coordination and Collaboration:
Work closely in coordination with the medical doctor, and other health team members.
Strictly follow universal precautions while performing duties (gloves, clothing, disposal of medical waste, hand washing).
Keep the working place clean, orderly, and neat.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in RI’s policy and procedure manuals.
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all RI staff and participate in regular staff meetings.
Execute other tasks assigned by the supervisor in accordance with RI policies.
Stay updated on best practices in nursing and nutrition through ongoing education and training.
