Position Overview
The Drug Demand Reduction Technical Project Officer is responsible for supporting RHDO's drug demand reduction initiatives, working directly within community programs aimed at reducing substance abuse. This role involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs that address the root causes of substance misuse, with a focus on prevention, education, treatment, and rehabilitation. The Project Officer will work closely with local communities, healthcare providers, and stakeholders to ensure program success and positive community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Planning and Development
- Assist in the development of demand reduction strategies and intervention programs.
- Conduct community assessments to identify areas and populations at high risk of substance misuse.
- Design, adapt, and implement educational materials and resources for awareness and prevention.
- Project Implementation
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day project activities, ensuring compliance with RHDO standards.
- Facilitate workshops, training, and awareness sessions with community leaders, educators, and health professionals.
- Work with healthcare facilities to improve treatment and rehabilitation services for individuals struggling with substance abuse.
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop metrics and tools for evaluating program effectiveness, collecting data on key indicators.
- Analyze data to measure program impact, identifying areas for improvement and reporting on progress.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting to donors, stakeholders, and RHDO management.
- Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Foster relationships with local community leaders, healthcare providers, and NGOs for collaborative efforts.
- Act as an RHDO representative in meetings, conferences, and workshops related to drug demand reduction.
- Engage families and community members in support networks for individuals undergoing treatment.
- Capacity Building
- Conduct training sessions for local staff and community volunteers on prevention, harm reduction, and rehabilitation practices.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to healthcare and social services personnel involved in drug demand reduction.
- Advocacy and Policy Support
- Assist in advocating for drug demand reduction policies at local and national levels.
- Support RHDO in preparing reports and policy recommendations to improve public health approaches to substance misuse.
